🎨 CREATIVITY BY THE SEA - 18 MAY

Under our marquee you’ll find an eclectic mix of paintings and works from our artists. Visitors are welcome to chat with the artists about their techniques, materials, and sources of inspiration. Artists will also be running demonstrations including one of Chinese watercolour painting.

It’s a chance to connect directly with artists, discover emerging talent, and support the local arts community in a relaxed, seaside setting.

ARTIST'S SPOTLIGHT 🔦

Congratulations to Thelma Beeton on her first solo exhibition! Thelma has had her work displayed with us in the last few years and we were so proud of her and excited to go and support her. Thelma's exhibition is named 'Takariliya' meaning 'family' in the Palawa language with the exhibition centering on Thelma's maternal family. Her rraykana (emu) totem features heavily to depict her family and their shared culture.
Be sure to check out Thelma's exhibition which is on in Fitzroy Library until Sunday 20th July!

HAPPY EARTH DAY 🌎

April 22nd was Earth Day. Earth Day is all about raising environmental awareness, appreciating the Earth and showcasing the climate progress we’ve made so far.

This year’s theme was Our Power, Our Planet calling for everyone to unite for renewable energy.

To celebrate Earth Day, we’re sharing some good news around climate progress and celebrating what we’ve achieved so far:

  • Some endangered species are making a recovery. This includes Australia’s most endangered marsupial, the Gilbert’s potoroo. It had previously been thought to be extinct for over a century. Source.

  • Finland has become the latest country to fully phase out coal power, moving towards renewable energy. Source.

  • 92% of new car sales in Norway in 2024 were fully electric. Source.
